Sold the S4 today. I’ve owned it for the past 2 years and have had tons of fun with it. It’s was a bit of a maintenance hog having over 100k miles. The combination of that and expensive parts led me to end the bleeding.
I originally listed it on craigslist for $7,900. After receiving a massive amount of responses and people willing to buy it at that price, I felt like I was selling myself short. I had one buyer that was really interested in the car – he seemed like a legit enthusiast. We spoke over email for the past 3 weeks and I finally had him come and check out the S4 with one caveat – I wouldn’t sell it for anything less than $9,000. When he finally arrived with his girlfriend from PA and after checking out the S4 inside and out, he wanted to see if I’d take “$8,000 cash” for it. I told him, “No – I won’t take less than $9,000. It only has 100,000 miles on it.” He offered $8,500 and I countered with $9,000 firm. We shook on $9,000, and then I took him for a test drive.
I’ll miss it, but I won’t miss working on it all the time and giving it the constant attention that it really needs. It feels good to sell something that eats up a lot of your time and energy.
I’ll be honest, I did tear up a little bit when I took her for a final drive before the buyer showed up. Audi makes some solid cars, so maybe one day down the road I’ll reintroduce myself to them, but for now here’s to me doing my part in downsizing and focusing on what really matters to me.
Here’s a couple shots of her:
Enjoy your new home…
